Enchanted Evening

It was one of the most enjoyable evenings in many a year. Last night we attended a performance of Smokey Joe’s Cafe at the Pasadena Playhouse and were entertained by a very talented and energetic cast of 9 singer and dancers doing over 40 of the best songs from the fifties.

All of this courtesy of one of the new member of the Rotary Club of San Marino, Christine Franke who wanted to share a little about her vocation. The evening was a pure and simple example of developing acquaintances as an opportunity for service and I will probably be hearing from Christine about future opportunities to draw upon my time, treasure or talent. Either way, it is better to be involved, ‘in the arena’ according to Richard Nixon.

So when you think of inviting someone to join Rotary remember that you aren’t doing something to them; you are doing something for them. By the way, I highly recommend making an effort to see Smokey Joe’s Cafe at the Pasadena Playhouse during the current 3 week run. You can reach Rotarian Christine Franke at 626 737-2852.
